CASA MUYSKA: AMAZONAS RESIDENCY 2024

The residency was held at Finca Açaí in Leticia, Amazonas, Colombia, organized by artist Santiago Alvarez for Casa Muyska. Over the course of a week, several artists and family members engaged in a program focused on two primary traditional mediums of the Uitoto ethnic tradition. Participants learned to create costumes for ritual practices and ancient pottery techniques through workshops, storytelling, and hands-on experiences.

Ceremonial Garments Workshop

The experiences involved the collection and processing of various barks and plant materials to craft the costumes and masks used in the ritual garments of the indigenous ethnic groups residing in this region of the Amazon.
